Wayne Truax Designs has been recognized by leading design publications for residential work across the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island. Our modernist pool house design was selected as an Editor’s Pick by Dwell magazine, and our projects have been featured for their blend of modern architecture, sustainable building practice, and thoughtful integration with the natural coastal landscape. Below is a selection of published and featured work.

Our modernist pool house design was selected as an Editor's Pick by Dwell, one of the most influential publications in residential design. Inspired by the work of Richard Neutra, the project emphasizes clean lines, open spaces, and a seamless connection to its natural surroundings.
Our Comox Valley poolhouse and home addition project was featured in a multi-page article exploring the design story behind it. The piece traces how a client's desire for a bright, Palm Springs-inspired retreat became a mid-century modern poolhouse — defined by clean lines, geometric forms, a steel frame supporting slender roof posts, and folding glass doors that dissolve the boundary between the indoor living space and the poolside outdoor kitchen. The article also covers the project's second act: two neoclassic English-style orangery additions to the main house, and the heated year-round pool built with insulated concrete forms. The feature captured what we care about most — designing spaces built around how people actually live and gather.

Our Orangery kitchen addition was named a 2026 Georgie Award finalist (Builder Lacasse Construction) in the Best Kitchen Renovation Over $200,000 category. Presented by the Canadian Home Builders' Association of British Columbia, the Georgie Awards recognize excellence in residential design and construction across the province. This project transformed the heart of the home with a neoclassic English-style orangery kitchen, crowned by a timber-framed glass roof lantern that floods the space with natural light.
