Wayne Truax Designs is a residential design studio in Comox, BC. Member, BC Association of Building Designers (BCABD). Wayne Truax has worked on Comox Valley homes since 2006 — twelve years as a licensed residential builder and ticketed carpenter, building the homes he drew, and full time as a residential designer since 2018. He designs custom homes, additions, renovations, secondary suites and carriage houses — indoor and outdoor as one piece — and stays on through construction so the home gets built as designed. Residential design fees, not a percentage of your build.
Inspired by the built architectural world & extensive global travels studying architecture, the focus is on your experience within the spaces created—between the walls, floors, and ceilings. The aim is to design calm and accessible spaces that provide you with a sanctuary from today's busy lifestyles. The architecture is not only beautiful to look at but, more importantly, it is a joy for you to inhabit; to live the design.

Wayne Truax designs the whole property, not just the building on it — custom homes, additions, renovations, secondary suites and carriage houses, and the ground they sit on. Landscape and hardscape are drawn alongside the floor plan, not handed off afterward, because a house and its site are one design problem. Twelve years of building is why the drainage, the retaining walls and the deck framing are drawn to be built.
Taking on a renovation or new-build project is a big decision, and it's natural to feel a bit overwhelmed at the start. At Wayne Truax Designs, they pride their selves on experience and an adaptable approach, ensuring that they meet your specific needs by providing tailored services. They start with a comprehensive assessment of your requirements, so you feel confident moving forward.
They believe in the importance of building a strong client-designer relationship. It's crucial for them to understand your vision and for you to feel comfortable with your designer. Whether you have a clear idea, are working within a budget, or need guidance on possibilities, the initial meeting and Client Brief Questionnaire are designed to learn about your lifestyle and project goals.
They especially enjoy collaborating with clients who are deeply invested in their projects. The designs are meant to age gracefully rather than follow fleeting trends, and there’s nothing more rewarding for us than seeing the homes we've crafted with our clients continue to be cherished over time. They are Comox Valley home designers.
